We were delighted to welcome our families to Kildare to celebrate the academic achievements of our students from Semester 1.
Our Middle Years and Senior Years Assemblies featured a variety of Dance and Music performances and special guest speakers Amatullah (Class of 2020) and Natasha (Class of 2019) who shared words of encouragement and wisdom with our students.
Congratulations to all for their commitment to their studies.
Over the past week, our community have showcased hope and compassion for those who need it most with initiatives supporting Vinnies Australia
Our Winter Warmers Donation Drive was an incredible success with OVER 1700 non-perishable food items donated across our community! Thank you to everyone and congratulations to Chanel House for the highest number of donations made.
Cooking up a storm, our Years 10 and 11 Living Justice Living Peace students and Student Leaders hosted our annual Kildare Community Cook Up! Pasta and cupcakes were made to feed up to 100 people and were donated to Vinnies Fred's Van for their dinner service.
In solidarity with people who experience homelessness, these students spent a night at the College for the Vinnie's Winter Sleepout. They also took this opportunity to create origami houses, representing how many houses we need in South Australia for people experiencing housing insecurity, rising rent and homelessness.
Congratulations to everyone on their incredible efforts to make a difference.
Today, our College embraced our Core Value of Hope by supporting those in need. Students, staff, and Rory's Group Australia contributed by wearing their tracksuits and donating non-perishable food items for 'Tracksuit Funday Friday'.
So far, around 1,000 items have been donated for The St Vincent de Paul Society, with the number still rising! An incredible effort and display of support from our community.
What is your next step?
Our Years 9-12 students and families engaged in our 'Futures Fair' yesterday, an event designed to support students' learning during their Senior Years and academic journeys after school.
Families explored our extensive curriculum offerings, including SACE, VET and LINKs at Kildare, and connected with higher education providers and specialist employers. Information about ATARs and SATAC was presented so students could consider their pathways, creating a sense of excitement for the future.
Over three days, our Class of 2024 immersed themselves in their final Kildare College Retreat.
An opportunity to reflect on connections, experiences and continue their faith journey, the Retreat is an incredibly special time for our Year 12 students to gather as a whole cohort, reflect on their place in the world and enjoy some fun activities celebrating their past, present and future.
We were excited to see Old Scholar, Natasha Polglase (Class of 2019) representing The University of Adelaide as part their 150th anniversary celebrations!
Members of the community were selected to be featured on a light pole banner on the University’s North Terrace campus. Natasha says, "I am grateful to be recognised amongst them for my prior role as president of the Adelaide Mechanical Engineering Student Society...I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings!”
In her final year, Natasha is soon to complete a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Sports) (Honours) at The University of Adelaide. Alongside study, Natasha works part-time for a biomedical company that manufacture artificial, anatomically correct, human body parts for surgeons to hone their surgical skills before performing on real life patients. Her future goal is to design prosthetics, either for day-to-day use or for Paralympians.
We look forward to seeing her career continue to flourish. Congratulations Natasha!
In today's fast paced world, practical life skills are becoming increasingly essential.
One important skill is the ability to maintain and care for a vehicle! Our Year 11 students participated in the RAA Car Care Intensive Course learning about the fundamentals of car care, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to be independent.
Acts of service, whether big or small, contribute to the wellbeing and harmony of relationships.
Some of our Year 7 students have been dedicated to a service activity this term, engaging with the Kildare Ministries' Living Justice | Living Peace Charter. We acknowledge each of them for fostering a culture of care, empathy, and support within our community.
On the last day of Term, our Year 9 STEM students participated in the Subs in Schools Challenge where they created submarines and tested how effective they travelled in the water. Throughout this project, students employed many STEM skills using the engineering design process including investigating buoyancy, soldering, creating their own 3D printed propeller designs, as well as working as a collaborative team.
Our Year 10 students recently spent three days at Mylor camp, engaging in outdoor activities that pushed them beyond their comfort zones and provided the opportunity to experience connections with each other in a different setting.
Designed to provide our students with a unique opportunity to develop essential life skills, promote teamwork, and foster lasting friendships, this camp encouraged personal growth, resilience and self-discovery.
