SAPSASA Girls AFL

25.10.21

During October eleven Year 7  students from Kildare College had the opportunity to represent the Adelaide North-East district in the Year 6/7 SAPSASA Girls AFL competition under coach Miss McAteer. The team played three games each day under a hot sun at Barratt Reserve, West Beach.

The teams in our division made us work hard to win the ball throughout the carnival and the skill level of the players was outstanding. Our first game of the carnival saw our first win, taking down Northern York Peninsula 5.5 to 1.1. Beaten in game 2, the team had a hunger to fill and did so winning their final game of day one against Western Eyre Peninsula by 19 points.

Day Two came around and our legs were feeling the lactic acid build up. Adelaide North-East were only able to come away with one win for the day scoring 4.2 to 2.0 defeating Murraylands.

By Day Three our bodies were struggling to perform as they did on day one. Unfortunately, the team could not secure a win, although they came very close in their final game, only losing by 1 goal in the last two minutes of game play.

It was a very trying three days of intense competition. The eleven students from Kildare College made a fantastic contribution to the Adelaide North-East district team and should be very proud of their efforts. "I can't wait to see their skills mature even further and grow into fantastic young female footballers."
