A Message from our Senior Years Coordinator

04.08.21

Term 3 marks a busy term for Senior Years students; Year 12 students will begin to conclude their studies at Kildare College and Year 10 and 11 students will begin to plan for 2022 and beyond.

During Term 3 we start the subject selection process, which begins with students receiving subject selection forms and viewing a presentation regarding the SACE and subject choices.

Subject selection for students in Year 10 and 11 is an exciting process for many, but may also be somewhat overwhelming as students start to look at life beyond Kildare.

At Kildare we have many support systems in place that students can access to gain advice on subject selection and assist them to find a path that is right for them.

As students and families enter in the subject selection process, it is important to consider the following:

  • Students are encouraged to select subjects they are interested in and are motivated to complete. Students are more likely to achieve and do well in a subject if they enjoy the subject and are motivated. We recommend that students choose subjects they enjoy and do well in.
  • Students are asked to have a range of subject types to provide a balanced workload and variety in their day and week.
  • Each student has a different journey. There are several pathways beyond Kildare and we will support students to shape their future to their specific needs.

If you wish to speak to any teachers regarding specific information about your daughter completing a subject in Stage 1 or Stage 2 you will have the opportunity to book in a phone conversation.

We look forward to supporting your daughter in making her subject choices for 2022 and encourage you all to attend the counselling afternoon scheduled for later in the term.
