This year Kildare College introduced a Specialist Soccer program for the Year 9 students. The class consists of 12 students with a range of skills, abilities and experiences.
Over the course of Term 1, the class took part in sessions developed through the National Football curriculum’s Game Training Phase. These sessions focused on a holistic four corner approach, that aimed to develop the players’ Technical, Tactical, Physical and Mental components.
In Week 10, the team travelled to Mark Oliphant College to play their first game together; for some it was also their first ever soccer game. The team won the game 4-1 and played exceptionally well, showing a huge improvement of each component of the game since the beginning of the term.
We look forward to Term 2 and the next challenges ahead.
