Kildare's Year 8 students have recently been encouraged to learn strategical mathematical thinking through playing games. The students worked in small groups to design board games based on specific mathematical concepts such as percentages, Venn Diagrams, and quadrilaterals. Their task was to produce a creative and engaging game that effectively taught players Math concepts.
On game day, the students modelled and explained their games to another group and then watched on as their games were enjoyed by others. A fraction sorting game created much excitement as players raced the clock to make ‘wholes’, and deep concentration was required to factorise tricky expressions in ‘Faurgia Factorisation’.
