This week Student Leaders from Kildare College attended the City of Tea Tree Gully Youth Leadership Conference. The conference was attended by many schools from our local region and was held at the Golden Grove Recreation Centre.
The Student Leaders who attended the day were representatives from each of the five houses at Kildare. These leaders ranged from students in Year 7 through to Year 11 who worked collaboratively throughout the day.
The day itself was focussed on the ways that students can make a difference within their community. It looked at identifying problems and leading groups to find solutions through a variety of mediums.
While our students represented the College with pride, they also took much out of the day as illustrated through some of their feedback on the day:
“I enjoyed the youth leadership conference, it was a great experience. The highlight of the day were the guest speakers. They really put everything into perspective and the experience will definitely help me become a better leader.” Lerisa Theodoropoulos
“I liked the interactive activities in order to meet other captains from different schools in our area.” Madeline Bunce
“After this conference I am very inspired to keep applying myself and take up future leadership positions within the College and other areas.” Trinity O’Shea
“The activities provided encouraged teamwork with the other leaders and formed many new connections and friendships between leaders at Kildare College and other schools.”
Mia Hodge
“I learnt a lot from the Youth Leadership Conference. I learnt that one person might not be able to change the whole world but one person can change someone else's world.”
