The Year 12 Food and Hospitality had a vist from the Year 5,6,7 class from Paradise Primary, to learn about healthy cooking.
The Year 12 students planned many recipes including waffle veggie burgers, baked chicken nuggets and chips as well as sweet potato and choc chip muffins. The primary students were excited to make their own healthy lunch and also get involved in activities learning about different vegetables, nutrients and how to make healthy ingredient substitutions.
The Year 12 students put a lot of thought and analysis into the recipes the students made to ensure sure they fit the nutritional needs of the age group, healthy eating recommendations from the government all while making sure the end product would still be appealing. The Year 12 students were really tested having the young students in the kitchen and learnt a lot about how to communicate and interact with them to get them engaged in healthy eating.
