Career and Subject Expo

16.08.18

As we approach that time of the year when subject selection for the coming year is on the minds of our senior students, our staff work on a number of initiatives to help students make educated and well-researched decisions. One of the biggest events that assists with the subject selection process is our annual Kildare College Career and Subject Expo.

Held on the evening of Wednesday 1 August this year, the evening allowed Kildare College to host a range of tertiary institutions and agencies who were more than happy to provide information and answer questions that could assist our students with their future career paths. Whilst well known institutions such as University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, Flinders University and TAFE SA are always popular, smaller RTOs (Recognised Training Organisations), such as Queensford College, Academy of Interactive Entertainment and the Australian College of Applied Psychology and Endeavour College of Health. Defence Force and Army Reserve Recruiting were also popular with the visiting families, offering the chance to get paid to work and study.

The Stage 1 and 2 teachers provided much assistance to families, answering questions about senior subjects and making connections between subject choices and career pathways. This provided many conversation starters for our families as students start finalising their subject choices over the next week for Year 11 and Year 12 in 2019. Further information was provided at the SACE Information sessions, allowing families to understand not only the subjects but also the process involved in completing the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

Thank you to the students, families and exhibitors who attended the Kildare College Career and Subject Expo and to staff who set up learning area displays and answered many questions throughout the evening. We look forward to a successful Subject Selection process.
